We plan small, unhurried trips along rivers, trade roads and mountain passes. Half-timbered towns, cathedral squares, vineyard terraces and castle ruins, with enough time to look at them properly.

The Middle Rhine

Cologne to Mainz, 6 days

Castle after castle above the gorge, wine villages at river level, and the ferry crossings that still link them.

The Hanseatic coast

Lübeck to Stralsund, 5 days

Brick Gothic churches, merchant warehouses and harbour towns built on the Baltic trade.

The Alpine road

Lindau to Berchtesgaden, 7 days

Lake Constance to the Königssee by way of painted villages, abbey churches and high pasture.

Danube and Wachau

Passau to Vienna, 6 days

Baroque monasteries, apricot orchards and terraced vineyards, followed downstream by boat and rail.
